I never write reviews but I am so very disappointed in this store. It used to be so good and nice and organized, but it?s gone down hill. A few months ago I was so excited to see a section in fiction books dedicated to Black Authors. I bought several books from that section, and thought it was a very nice way to highlight Black authors. I went in there yesterday to find out that the Black Authors section had been removed. A bookseller informed me that ?it didn?t sell well and they didn?t see any differences in sales?. The bookseller also said that she wished the section was back. But to me, that?s messed up. Instead of highlighting POC authors, they care more about money and sales. I really enjoy the current romance section where they have selected Black authors and LGBTQ+ authors pulled out and signs indicating that those books are on separate shelves. I hope that doesn?t go away soon. Why not display marginalized groups to help them be known and more common??? I?ve had issues with the store manager, Liz, in the past. She is always very rude and has a nasty attitude. Some of the booksellers are angels and always are eager to help me. But if I only see her at customer service I won?t ask for help. I?ll look around for another bookseller in the store. One time at customer service, a bookseller was helping me and Liz made some kind of comment at the bookseller (I don?t remember what it was) and the bookseller?s face totally fell and I knew she felt uncomfortable and dejected. I asked this bookseller when she brought me to my book if Liz was in a bad mood or something and the bookseller wouldn?t answer my question, just brushed it off and laughed, but I could see her body language was uncomfortable and sad. Even the booksellers don?t like the store manager! I would rather spend the extra 20 minutes to go to the Barnes Noble in Edison.
