We found this place on the way through the city, and are so glad that we stopped here instead of some chainplace. ove the fact that they have been here for decades, we know that locals must like it. I had the Cheeseburger and my wife had the grilled chicken salad. Both were very good. Fast (FAST) friendly service for boating. We will definitely come back!

My favorite place to eat in Mississippi for decades. The Po'boys are like a Po'boy. The ham, dressed Bratbeef with Gravy, and shrimps are good enough, it is hard to choose which one has this visit. Also get the cup of Gumbo with your Po'boy. There are other things on the menu that I must be sure to be good, but past ordering a Po'boy and Gumbo make it impossible to say.

Great comfort food. Love the fried chicken salad, shrimp poboy and the sliced beef (brisket)! Baked beans and potato salad are legit as well. Never had anything here that wasn 't good. Great laid-back atmosphere with a very regular crowd, which says a lot. I come every couple weeks at a minimum.
One of my favorite local Hattiesburg restaurants for the past 25 years is the Gold Post! Their po-boy bread is authentic, shipped daily straight from New Orleans, and the house salad dressing is local famous. I recommend any of the Po-boy sandwiches, all the salads, and both the red beans and rice and the seafood gumbo. It's a perfect spot for a quick, casual lunch at a very reasonable price!

Historic burger and gumbo joint.... Well run and wonderful food.... seafood gumbo uses blond roux and therefore surprisingly light and delicate.... nice change in our part of the world
