The outside look of the restaurant is not promising. It is not at street level. Then you realise that it is full of people and you decide to 'give it a try' and get inside. You go in and you receive a very warm welcome. We went on a Monday night, we didn't reserve and we could not eat in. We decided to take away the food to the hotel.Next time in Vancouver, we will definitively eat in. The BBQ is in the table and the food served and the smell was delicious. Our take away food eaten 20mins after having received it, it was flawless. Very nice Japanese restaurant and great customer service.

After receiving many positive reviews from my friends, I decided to test. and I have no regrets for my choice! you have the choice between different menus, but also the option to choose from the menu. The dishes are varied and there are for all tastes!

We came here on a weekend visit to Vancouver and were surprised to find that there was not much of a line here. The primary specialty of this restaurant is, as its name suggests, BBQ, so we ordered some beef and pork and prepared to do the grilling ourselves. It was a very interesting experience as we had to grill/prepare all of our food right on our table with a furnace in the middle. Pork can be a bit hard but we particularly enjoyed several cuts of Wagyu beef. Be careful though as wagyu beef tend to "add fuel to the fire" since its so extra juicy with a good amount of fat :DWe ended the meal on a high note with their special Tai Yaki that you get to grill yourself. It was a very fun experience and we will be sure to visit this place again next time we come to Vancouver.

Hit happy hour. Fun cooking food at table, prices were very reasonable. Definitely need reservation and time is limited to two hours at table. 90% of crowd and staff under 30. Really fun time.

This is our first visit to Gyu Kabu in Canada. We were thrilled to find this place as it has been one of our favourite eating place in Malaysia and Singapore. The food and selection of the meat was limited compared to what we were used to in the east. Nevertheless, the meat was fresh and flavourful. We ordered a set for two, and because there was three of us we added four a la carte. It was partly our mistake that we didn't check in details what was included in the set, so after a while we thought all the dishes in the set were out and we were still not full, we ordered another eight a la carte.....An informed and experienced waiter would probably at least mention that maybe we should wait till all the food were out before ordering more or suggested that it may be too much food for just three people. But he didn't bother. We could not finished the food, in fact the left over was enough to feed two more persons if we didn't stuff ourselves. We didn't have any meat since then ( more than a week now ). We figure we had our share of meat for the month!
