Joe's Kansas City -b-que

Up with 2 onion rings, there is a thick pile of brisket between two freshly roasted rolls. Meat is good and everything, but BBQ is not something I would normally choose. But... there was something about this burger, the meat was tender enough to just fall on the brightest bite, and the onion rings were not in the way because they were crispy enough. I think my problem with meat is that sometimes it's too hard to chew, and I'm too lazy to tear into it, but that was perfectly cooked meat that I had no complaints. I couldn't stop until everything was gone.

Sure, not as cool as the original in the gas station, but the food is the same. As for BBQ, this is probably the best sandwich and pommes you can find. The frits are as good as I had at any barbecue in this area, and the Z-man, Smoky Joe and BBQ chicken sandwich are all great. The ribs are also large, but the other sides had (beans, red beans and rice) were not good. The sauces are also excellent and as good as you can get in Kansas City.

Food is still great, but go to the original (gas station) if you can. Joe loses some of what Joe did in this place. It happens when an icon expands. The ambience is very important for an overall BBQ experience. The positive to Leawood are clean, comfortable (for me) and the BBQ is still the BBQ. Just not so good here. And for some strange reason, the Pommes in Leawood are not so good. Can't be an original, but certainly better than a sharp stick in the eye or many other BBQ joints in the city.

Best BBQ in KC. Priced right, not a fancy atmosphere. No tip necessary which saves a few bucks. Z man and the ribs are top notch. The fries are the best in KC. I love eating here.

Always has been the best. Always will be. I love the new vegetarian option zman! We love you! Amazing sides especially spicy slaw fries. Most amazing sauces.

I didn't know what burnt ends were before I came to Kansas City. After visiting Joe's, I can't get enough of them! These are a delicacy only served on Monday's and Saturdays for lunch, and that's because they are incredibly popular. Get here early on those days, other wise you'll find that the line extends out the door and around the curb. There isn't anything on the menu that refutes the notion that Joe's is one of the top BBQ restaurants in the country.

Yum!. So, I haven't tried any other KC BBQ, but I totally loved this place. We went at 12:30p on a Tuesday and the line only wrapped around the inside of the restaurant I considered that lucky since I'd herd about it wrapping out and around the building. It moved pretty fast, too! We probably only waited 10 15 minutes just enough time to look over the menu. My husband ordered the Z Man and loved it! I got Hog Heaven, which was delicious! And we shared an order of fries thank goodness we shared because they give you a huge bag of them! They're seasoned nicely and have the perfect amount of crunch! We'll definitely visit OK Joe's next time we're in town and probably order the exact same thing!
