I hope you like it thick. Some people do, indeed, like it thick.

Came here with the family for my brother's birthday and we had the following: Pizza for my nieces - they love it! One of my nieces also had the spinach

We reserved for 5 people at 7pm and arrived a bit early; no problem, we were accommodated immediately. It was a warm night but the restaurant was cool, the music was muted ( which is great!), the service was very good, and the food... OMG! I'm still full!

I have been patronizing Maria's for many years and it continues to my fav greek restaurant. When you arrive, Marcos or Laurie will greet you.I particularly like their roasted lamb and the fried cheese appie. I also highly recommend their pizza's. When ordering a pizza to be delivered to my home, I always order from Maria's.This restaurant continues to be owned by a local greek family and it is my fav local greek place.It's a good thing to support a local independent family-owned restaurant.They also have an excellent reasonably priced wine list.

Greek restaurant opposite Safeway. Having been there twice recently and once in December 2015, the conclusion is that the starters are more Greek than the main courses. It can get very busy after work and the staff do their best and provide service with a smile.

Maria's Taverna is a cozy and nice restaurant that serves great Greek food.We, family of three, ordered Greek Platter for two people. It comes with Greek salad, tzatziki sauce (yogurt dip) Greek pita bread, full portion of Roast lamb, broiled calamari, 1 skewer chicken souvlaki, 4 dolmathes (vine leave wrap with rice and ground meat), 4 meatballs, Greek rice, and roasted lemon potatoes for $49.95.Lamb was so tender and juicy, chicken souvlaki was tender and the marinade was just perfect, dolmathes were one of the best I have ever tasted! Meatballs were great with perfect seasoning. And calamari, this was not deep fried as we commonly get in the other restaurants, and but broiled! I'm not used to these type of calamari but their marinade sauce was just perfect! The only downside was the rice and potatoes. It was tasty, yes, but the rice was kind of plain, and the portion was not great compared to the other big name Greek restaurants. The potatoes weren't golden crispy like I personally like.This Greek platter was so perfect with so many combination, that is just what I wanted. I debated either this Greek platter or Combination Platter (comes with meatballs, moussaka, lamb chops, Beef souvlaki, and dolmethes) (plus, rice, potatoes, salad and pita). I have been coming to Maria's Taverna for over 20 years, every time I come to Vancouver. Great staff. Wonderful food. Lamb chops, souvlaki, lamb shank, the best humus I have ever had. Can't wait to go back.
