came to risto on recommendation of a friend who would have been there for lunch. we received a warm welcome from the staff who were attentive during our dinner. when I made the reservation for my birthday, the reservation form asked if this was a special occasion and I often congratulate myself from the server. but why do they ask if it is a special occasion if they do nothing to make it special? a brownie or a small cup of ice would have made it special and the others in our group would probably have ordered one of their larger desserts. I had the chicken sandwich, which was terriblely inconceivable and came with just a few steak horses. my man had the steak sandwich and he said the same about his meal. the menu is limited so that you can see it online first. the atmosphere when we first arrived was calm so that we were able to talk and catch, but at the end of our meal, a band had begun to play far too loud for the small space. time for us to go.

eating and service was great. we were greeted and sitting as soon as we got in. our server knew all specials and made wonderful recommendations. from the bruschetta appetizer to the amazing carrot cake it was a really wonderful experience.
I loved the place and eating was amazing. the only string I didn't like was barb the server that told us that we would like each thing because it was delicious. I would rather make this decision myself.
staff and owners were very friendly and courteous. the atmosphere was thrilled in an old building in the inner city of statesville.

Worst service ever Our party of four arrived early for our 6:00 reservation. The restaurant was not crowded. When 7:00 hit and we had not gotten our food, I asked the waitress about it as we needed to leave by 7:30 at the latest. She said it was coming right up. Five minutes later, the owner came and apologized that the order had not been turned in the waitress had lost the ticket , but that our food would be right out in a few minutes. (How that was possible if the order had been lost was a bit confusing, but we were starving, so we did not question). When at 7:20 I reminded her we needed to leave in 10 minutes, she said it was coming right up. We ended up leaving after 7:30 very hungry and more than a little angry. The waitress did run out the door to hand us a bag with some food in it...I had ordered dairy free food, and the 2 items in the bag that were supposed to help feed all four of us both had cheese on them (we could not figure out what one food item was, actually not at all what we had ordered). At one point the owner had asked if we wanted a second basket of bread while we were waiting YES WE WERE READY TO EAT THE NAPKINS but no bread was even brought to the table during this whole debacle. Needless to say, despite the offer of a free dinner for our next visit, we will never again darken the door of Risto’s place.
We stopped into Statesville on our way back from Florida to New York. We Googled, best restaurants in Statesville, and risto's was number one. It absolutely did not disappoint. Our server Jessica J. Was awesome. The food was very good and there was a fantastic band playing. The overall experience was great and we will stop there again the next time we go through.
Our dinner and service was excellent. We unexpectedly found ourselves in Statesville. Beautiful little city. Will look for an opportunity to return and have dinner at Risto’s Place.
