We sat immediately, the food was absolutely delicious, and the service was great! The Beignets were hot and tasty, the French toast had fresh berries and were very big and fluffy, and the eggs Benedict were a favorite - we chose the crab cake instead of ham and I would recommend it! All in all, one of the best breakfasts I had in a while!

We had a real pleasure at Shadwell's restaurant. The cast rolls were very light and fluffy and spicy. I had the catch of the day (Fried Catfish, with Rice Pilaf, and Corn), which was very delicious. The Pecan Crusted Chicken was ok after my middle child who has a highly developed palate. She said the potatoes and broccoli were on the spot. The steak salad was very good. The staff was very friendly and service was fast. We arrived at an hour before closing because of the trip and did not feel rushed. I would recommend eating here.

We went to this restaurant because it's right at the Kluge-Ruhe Museum, and we were glad we made it! The steak is really good (and I am fussy about restaurant steak), and although I found the blue cheese butter a little overwhelming, it was simply enough to move to the side. The service was fast and very friendly. Do NOT fit the she-crab soup; my daughter finished her own bowl!

Our dinner reservation for about 25 people during UVA's graduation weekend was mostly well managed. A few people had to sit outside of the reserved room due to the occupancy limit, but our experience was overall great. The meals were nicely presented, and I enjoyed my crab cakes entree which was served with rice, coleslaw and some vegetables.

First Impressions can shape an experience. When the first true dialogue as you walk in the door is that we would normally disregard your reservation, since it was only made 45 min. previously. But since we aren 't too busy, we will seat you. Definitely not the way to grow customer service. My first thought was, Don 't worry, we won 't every have that problem again, because we won 't ever be back. Now, getting past that experience and evaluating the culinary repast and service. Our server was very friendly, helpful, and polite; the host could take some lessons. She Crab Soup was very mild tasting with a hint of ?horseradish? Comeback Shrimp was very crispy with a delicious sweet chili dressing. Northern Neck Style Crab Cake Sandwich excellent crab cake, though a small portion. The Conductor had a good blend of flavors with the Applewood Bacon providing a good balance to the marinated chicken. The Pecan Chicken, very tender with a crisp pecan crust. The spinach side was normal, and the rustic mashed potatoes were a little dry. Over all, it was a pleasant dining experience. All of the food was good, with some slight quirks. Some portions seemed a little small, for the price (Crab Cake Sandwich Fish Chips), while others were well proportioned (Pecan Chicken Shrimp Platter). The house made tartar sauce was a little too thin the sandwiches seemed to have been plated for a while before serving as the bottom buns were soggy. Flavors were good and meats were cooked to perfection.

I got the burger and I asked for no pink and I got all pink meat. Informed the server and she said ok. No questions just ok and took the plate away. I only ate about 1/4 of the burger. Since I was hungry I ordered the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls. They sure looked amazing but they were only ok. The peppers and onions had a weird taste to them. I would say the best part of the entire night was the dessert. Highly recommend if every thing your ordered was bad this will make up for it. Don’t know if I will ever go back due to the food and price.

I absolutely CANNOT believe I just paid over $40 for a meal that left me wishing I went to McDonald's instead. Ordered 2 burgers directly from Shadwells to pick up. Got there within 15 minutes, got put on hold. Someone came out with a bag, asked for my name, and asked if I ordered from DoorDash .. I said no and she brought the bag back inside. 10 mins later I'm taken off hold, asked what I ordered, then brought the same bag out. Got home (about 5 min drive) and both burgers were absolutely cold. Felt great being nickled and dimed, too $1 each for some sad cheese, and I guess I paid $4 extra to have literal rotten brown avocado put on both burgers, one of which was left uneaten because it was pink when asked for no pink. The other burger was supposed to be pink and they look the same. Unfortunate since we've had good experiences at Shadwells the past two times we've eaten there and considered it the only close place for good food... Guess not. Glad I spent money to stay hungry!
