I ordered Pork Belly and Clams $28) which is under the Comforts heading of the menu, not in the Opener section. In fact, the menu says, Riverview Farms pork belly, Sapelo Island littleneck clams, smoked fish bone fumet, cured trout roe, chili oil grilled bread. What I got was a medium-sized bowl containing 3 pathetic pinky-sized cracklings, a dozen miserable mini clams that did not look like littlenecks and had more shell than meat, half a bowl of briny uninspired urine-colored broth, 2 puny pieces of toast the size of my palm, and no obvious essence of trout roe or chili oil. When you consider tax and tip, I essentially paid $10 per lousy cracklin! It was not worthy as comfort food…it was more like an overpriced appetizer! My friend who ordered the more substantial Fossil Farms Half Pheasant $56) explained that when people come to an expensive award-winning establishment like this, it is common to be served minimalist dishes such as mine! As the server plopped down that disappointing bowl, I instantly regretted not ordering something more conventional, such as the D&D Grilled Burger which also would have been $28! It is unfortunate that afterwards, I had to trudge down to Taco Bell to satisfy my unfulfilled hunger at a reasonable price Beefy 5-Layer Burrito $3.59 Spicy Potato Soft Taco $1.00). I only have one word permanently seared into my mind to remember and summarize my suboptimal experience at The Deer and the Dove: RIPOFF!Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options includes Soup-Vegetable Bisque Agnolotti, and Pappardelle Pasta. They are able to make them vegan by leaving out certain ingredients, like ricotta.Parking: After 6PM, parking fees are unenforced in the City of Decatur, but at that witching hour, there is a mad scramble for those free spaces, thus making them mostly unavailable. If you 're not lucky to find free parking nearby, then you 'll have to park at the periphery of downtown, then walk to the restaurant.Dietary restrictions: This restaurant will adjust or leave out ingredients for those who say they must remain gluten free.

It's a little pricey. Service was good and the food was delicious. If ur eating outside beware of the ants and slugs.

We enjoyed our evening, the food the service but the menu was way too expensive for what we got. For appetizers we especially enjoyed the coffee coated venison (melt in your mouth) pasta pockets stuffed with butternut squash. We also very much enjoyed the cocktails great variety all delicious. Our main entrees were all yummy but I can't say outstanding. I paid $48 for 3 large scallops, $28 for a hamburger fried potatoes, $40ish for the duck $28 for the veggie plate.

Never fails to be an impressive date spot. The food and drinks are always amazing. One thing to note though is to have a reservation, if you don't you will sit at the bar even if tables look available.Parking: There is a parking lot down the street going toward the library but this is always full so we parked in the parking deck by the old DeVry.

Wow, there's not many restaurants with a menu like this. If you like food rusts not boring but delicious, it's a must. I love having the plates explained as to how they were cooked and the drinks were exceptional.

In my opinion this is one of the best restaurants in GA. The staff was so friendly. Our waitress recommended the Venison and it was a highlight.Overall the menu is very unique with offerings such as Quail, Pheasant, etc.No complaints all the dishes were excellent.Standouts we’re the venison, scallops, and the plum cake. Would definitely visit again to try some of the other dishes.Cannot judge the drink menu that well, (only ordered one drink) but the cocktail I got, which was the Italian Sour was tasty.

enjoyed a lovely summer meal on the patio. summer vegetable plate with sea beans was a wonderful complement to the rich whipped foie gras with grilled bread, white truffles, begonia leaves, and peach jelly. Speaking of rich and wonderful the bone marrow and snails in a demi glace sauce with capers and shave garlic over focaccia bread is worth finding parking in Decatur Square. Wine menu features Oregon and Italian reds, whites and rose. House craft cocktail are refreshing and original.
