First thing, get reservations. This is a small restaurant and seating is limited. Service is top notch, really, beyond what I've experienced from any other restaurant in Bayfield or Goderich. The menu is refined and delicious. We got the caramelized onion dip for an appetizer. It was more than enough for our party of 4 to split, however, we could have used more chips. The gnocchi was a tad salty for my taste but my SO loved it. I had the penne and it was lovely. Our friends had the burger and were very happy with their choice. We got the Guinness chocolate cake for dessert but we were all underwhelmed. I would say one slice is enough to share between two people. The atmosphere is very similar to every other Irish pub I've visited. The bar is very well stocked for those with more discerning taste. Their beer selection has a little something for everyone, I was told the strawberry fruli was perfect, fruity but not overly sweet. I would say the price was a bit on the higher end. I spent the same amount the night before at another pub/restaurant and the service and food weren't remotely as good as at Black Dog.
