BEWARE The staff is NOT properly trained to identify gluten-free products. We were delighted to find a gluten-free bakery in Hilton Head! We went in to get a gluten-free bagel, we thought that a GLUTEN FREE BAKERY would only sell gluten-free. This is not the case, they also sell regular baked goods!! We ordered a gluten-free bagel, I had a conversation with the cashier about whether it was a will, soft and good as it was gluten-free and he assured me it would be and it would be very good. We have the bagel, ate him, it was very good! We enjoyed it so much that we went to order another and that 's when someone came out of the kitchen to tell me that they were from gluten-free bagels and what I received was a wheat bagel!!!! Imagine my horror to find out I had just enjoyed a wheat bagel from a gluten-free bakery! We were so disappointed and angry. Thank God I am not a celiac, but gluten-sensitive and only suffers digestive problems, but what if I had been a celiac?! After complaining to the owner's husband, the only thing they could say was good, sorry, everyone makes mistakes, we're just human. Really? They did not even offer a refund or seem to understand the importance of the matter. People are looking for a gluten-free bakery for one reason. The staff should be well trained in the meaning of what they sell, and it is beyond me why a gluten-free bakery even sells products with gluten to begin!! Very disappointing. Be sure you know what you get when you decide to visit!
