Recently saw an article written by Peter Genovese with a ranking of the top 50 Hot Dog rankings in New Jersey. Was pleasantly surprised to see a Morris County hot dog location make the top ten and happy to see that Andy's Roadside Dive was ranked #5. I've been know to take long road trips for a good dog and was happy this spot was close to home.Stopped in for a late lunch and a few others had the same idea. Prior to arriving, I never really looked at the menu and was planning on achilli dog. However, once I arrived and saw the menu, my plan quickly fell apart. Was intrigued by the hot dog creations that were available, and while wanting a classic chilli dog, realized I had to pick a specialty dog.I picked the Han Tsolo (Mtn Dew rice, steamed broccoli, chicken nuggets, General Tso sauce, and hot crushed pepper blend) mainly because it was a new menu item and asol because I probably will never come across this combination again. Also ordered Dive Fries (Fresh, Hand-cut Freedom Fries with W’ham seasoning)The meal was spectacular! While the combination may sound off, it was a great lunch. The freedom fries were also a great addition to the meal. While I often grab meals to go, was happy to have ordered to dine in. With outside and inside dining options available, being it was nicely air-conditioned, I opted for the indoor experience. After eating the dog and fries, had some room for one more and went with the Dive Dog (Andy’s chili Andy’s onions all over your dog) which was also a fantastic combination.Definitely will be back again to try some of the other creations that were on the menu. While waiting for the food and eating, had a nice conversation with Andy himself and he was a great guy to talk to.Having been there since 2011, I'm a bit bummed that I've never heard of this place before, especially since it's so close to home. Will definitely be back in the future.
