Crazy Al's Hillbilly BBQ

Very delicious burgers. The Crazy Al Burger has burger, pulled pork, pemeal bacon, and cheese curds. Poutine has real cheese curds which is sometimes very hard to find these days. A little pricey but worth it.

Crazy Al's is an excellent road side BBQ. en route from Bancroft to Madoc, we were dreaming of a chip truck that offered meat from a good local source, and to be honest did not believe that we would find such a place. When we found Crazy Al's we were delighted and surprised to learn that the owners also have the same taste in ethical and healthy meat options! The burgers were delicious and the service was amazing. We will definitely go back! Highly recommended!

Staff and food was great. I really like this place, I had poutine and tasty tasty deep-fried pickles. Reasonably priced and again the service was great. Visit on your way in or your way out, you won't regret it.

Lauri and Al own this friendly roadside BBQ place named Crazy Al's Hillbilly BBQ, located south of Bancroft, ON on Hwy 62. My husband and I stopped there on the very last day of our 5-week road trip that took us from our home in Northern Ontario all the way to Newfoundland and back. I was in urgent need of a toilet and had just been refused the use of the toilet at the gas station across the road from Crazy Al's, a place called Trudy's Gas Station. In all those weeks on the road, this had never been an issue. Store keepers and garage owners are always ready to offer a washroom to a needy traveler. When I crossed the road to Crazy Al's, Lauri was not surprised to hear that I had been refused the use of the toilet at Trudy's Gas Bar. Apparently the owners of the gas station, Joseph and Stella, do this all the time. Lauri has a clean porta potti for the use of her customers. She pays to have it emptied regularly. The owners of the unfriendly place, Joseph and Stella, even though they regularly send their customers across the road to Crazy Al's, have refused to help with the cost of pumping it out. I think that is unfair. Businesses should help each other, not take advantage of each other. Trudy's Gas Station should have its status as an LCBO Agency revoked. I had even offered to buy something in order to be allowed to use the washroom, but I was still refused. Lauri said that this happens all the time. In my opinion, local people and visitors who travel Hwy 62, should avoid the non-accommodating Trudy's Gas Station and instead, give their business to the much more customer-friendly and accommodating, Crazy Al's Hillbilly BBQ. They don't sell gas or alcohol, but the food is fresh and tasty. And the porta potty is clean and readily available to those in need!

My family and I stopped in and gobbled up a Large Poutine, which was enough for three after hiking for a couple hours at the McGeachie Conservation Area. Layered in gravy and curds so all the fries get cheesy and gooey, we loved it. Didn't try anything else on the menu, but all sounded good.

Good food but not as great as I expected. $9 Al' s burger looks better and bigger in pictures then in real life. Fries were delicious and service was very friendly

I was looking forward to eating here for about two weeks as I was vacationing in Bancroft. First off I had to say that the crazy al is pretty delicious, but and here's a big but, a lot smaller than I imagined. The pretzel bun is fantastic and so is the home made patty. The only thing is that the pulled pork portion is very small.The fries portions are very generous and tasty.
