Friendly staff and charming lunch spot with many items to browse. Great pie for dessert! The waitress, while new, knew a lot about the menu as she herself dined there regularly and was able to help us with our selections.

Been here on any occasion we have to pass through Guysborough but I will say the last visit (Aug 9th was disappointing. We arrived for a late meal (after 7). My wife ordered the haddock burger with fries and she was fine with it. I chose the fish cakes and beans,which is an odd choice for me but I wanted to try something a bit different. The two fishcakes were very dry, had little salt cod mixed in with the potato and not flavourful. If I had not heard one of the waitresses(possibly the owner) tell two fellows at the next table that all items were home made and locally prepared, I would have thought the fishcakes were a pre-frozen, not locally prepared. The beans were probably not canned but were really lacking the homebaked taste. I very seldom if ever leave anything on my plate but could only have a small portion of the beans and one of the two cakes. I will thank the business for comping the meal. A few weeks earlier, I had the haddock dinner, lobster roll as well as breakfast the next day and all were great along with the goodies were brought home. We shall return on a future day I'm sure.

Had the classic eggs toast and bacon with coffee only $10. Staff were very friendly. Lots of windows and easy parking. Got some baked goods to go.

Located roadside in a small town on the eastern shore of Nova Scotia Days Gone By serves good lunch food and baked goods. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We were sampled the mulligatawny soup they were serving in the main dining room. It was wonderful but they had never heard of the Soup Nazi!!

Stopped here for lunch (chowder and wrap) and liked it so much we went back for dinner in the evening. Maybe attracted by the 'Seniors Meals'!Nothing grand but oh so good. I had the haddock and chips (the chips are the best ever) and my husband had the roast turkey dinner. We followed this with a slice of blueberry pie and ice cream each. Excellent.Thanks to Lucina for making our visit so enjoyable.

Had shepherds pie and was good. The deserts were home made. Had the coconut cream pie as haven't had one in a long time. My wife liked it more than I did. I kept thinking it smelled like sun tan lotion but that was just me, wished I had tied something else as they all looked good.

This place has three identities: as a bakery, a restaurant and a gift shop. The baked goods are lovely and fresh; the restaurant food is nourishing, not fancy; the gift shop is not really worth the bother as nothing is by local artists. The coffee is hot and good and available to take out. It is certainly a handy and worthwhile stop in Guysborough.
