This place will be missed. Great coffee, tea, fish sandwiches, soup & desserts. As well as some good shopping. We will miss the owners and the great conversations.

I didn't go there this trip but I went back in may 2016. The cafe is located in Old Masset - which in itself is a wonderful place to visit. Being a cool day in may the tasty Chai latte and muffin were excellent choices to sit back and relax with. There also also a number of Haida items to purchase.

Hard to pin down the opening hours but I did make it once and was bowled over by their cinnamon buns. They've got a good selection of souvenirs as well.

The coffee is average.... not a lot of snack selection. Conversation is good. But because most of the time you go it's never open...really not worth the trip.

The cafe with an attitude, Lucy Bell and Ken Rea offer great food at ridicously low prices. Ken's mother Sharon bakes the pies and helps in the kitchen. Daughter Amelia is now learning the trade. Our group of 10 enjoyed the meal, the pies (baked by Sharon after finishing the Skidegate Days 10 km run) and conversation with locals. Lucy then shared with us her experiences repatriating Haida ancestors from museums around the world and her work on revitalization of the Old Masset dialect of the Haida Language. The Haida Rose is a gem that should not be missed. In addition to food, the serious shopper will find books, clothing, jewelry and pies to go.

Located in Old Masset close to shops, we stopped here on two occasions on our tour. All the elegant coffees (expresso, cappuccino, etc.) available and well made, plus usual goodies. A great big deck for conversation and relaxation.

little off the beaten path, but worth the stop, my wife enjoyed her coffee , service was local friendly and the pie was awesome.

Go for the real home-made soup that differs depending on the day. A tad hard to find in Old Masset, but if you find Sarah's Gallery it's up an alley on the opposite side of the playing field near a long house.Friendly place with good wifi, locals dropping in, a few Haida gifts, books and reading material. Can get busy around lunch time but don't go too late or there won't be any soup left.Great view from the front deck for sipping the tasty coffee. Very 'local'.
