Over the past 30 years on our way home from Port Dover, we stop at Hewitts Dairy Bar. We have never been disappointed! Do not be discouraged by the line up (which may extend outside), as the line moves swiftly. The reward is some of the best ice cream that you will ever enjoy. We had the blueberry cheesecake and chocolate ripple. The ice cream was creamy and the portions are generous. Please make sure that you stop at this iconic dairy bar and you will not be disappointed!

Best old school Ice Cream/Dairy bar in the world! My kids beg me to stop every time we are driving even remotely close to this place.This place has tons of different flavours of old school country ice cream.Great milk shakes, and they even have a restaurant side where you can order food as well.
Love their ice cream but our kids also love the classic old fashion feel of the diner! We always have to stop there when we are on our way to Port Dover. Just a classic place!
We stopped and sat on round chrome and vinyl stools at the counter sipping a banana milkshake in a stainless steel cup while eating a burger. This is an vintage diner but not fancy. The burger was mmmm...goood
It's such a treat to make the drive to Hewitt's. Nothing compares to their ice cream. Their food? Meh. But they're not called Hewitt's Restaurant so I can't complain, now can I? The last time I was there the line up was actually out the door - no kidding!My favourite flavour is key lime pie cheesecake, but unfortunately I haven't seen it yet this year.
Stopped in here for an ice cream during a drive in the area. The ice cream bar was busy but the service was fast an efficient. There were about 20 flavours to select from. They offer various sizes of cones but expect to pay about $5 for a cone. They will also serve it in a dish if you want. There are cones, sundaes, banana splits and milk shakes available - all of them generous and all of them freshly prepared. The ice cream is very good. It appears to be a popular spot for, as we were leaving, a midget baseball team showed up after a game - glad we beat the rush. There is also a full restaurant attached to the ice cream bar.
Very old style ice cream bar where you can also order burgers...Lots of flavours to choose from. Their serving sizes are generous, and the ice cream tastes amazing.You can get ice cream in the cone or as a shake... I had a deluxe Sundae and it was nearly a meal--probably the calories put me over the top :)Service is friendly, and I know on warm holidays the line ups can be long; lots of people know this is a great place to go.
Nice easy drive from Ancaster, the main reason I go is that my wife cannot have dairy but she can have goat ice cream which has. It is a real treat for her. They do have a good selection or ice cream and a limited selection of goat ice cream. A added bonus is that if you drive a few extra minutes to the first gas station on the right the gas is cheaper than any other place around.
