We have eaten here for more than a decade. It is under new ownership. We visited twice in August 2017. My wife and I went to the Hideaway for a quick dinner. I was looking forward to their fish and chips and she ordered the chicken and linguine. She really liked the chicken and found it filling and tasty. My fish and chips were utterly disappointing. The fish was half cooked and the breading was soggy. (TO OWNER: The fish truck is Apsley is twice as good at half the price. If you can't make it well, then take it off the menu!)Also, unless you like sweet wine, don't order it by the glass. Their house wine is to be avoided. The second time we went with my son, my brother-in-law and ourselves. We all ordered the rib special and it was very good. We also order a bottle of wine (Malbec) and it was excellent. Much more enjoyable experience.I think the prices are a bit expensive for what they have and the location, but there are very few "nice" restaurants in the area. For that reason, it is worthwhile visiting.

We were literally led up to an amazing gentleman on a cycle, who didn't even wait for a thank you. Me and the sister wanted to buy him a beer and express our thanks. If you're reading this message me :)We enjoyed the portions, we thought they were decent, the mashed potatoes that came with the chops was good, and so were the chops. The highlights were 'Beau' beer, that our waitress recommended; thank you and the sticky toffee cake. Yummy!!!We had a quick chat with the gentleman at the register too, we can only assume he was the owner, we talked a little about motorcycles. We'd go back if we ever visited Coe Hill again.

We had dinner at the Hideaway for the ribs with the chef's special Blueberry Wiskey BBQ sauce. They were to die for!. The entire meal was great with both owners Steve & Susan checking on us to make sure that we were enjoying our meal. The service was great. Just the right amount of time to enjoy a drink before dinner was served. The potatoes were excellent and everything was cooked fresh and hot....I love the patio here and the atmosphere is very fun but relaxing. This is our 2nd visit under the new owners...Kudos to them for a great job!. We will be back again and I often recommend this as the place to stop when going through or vacationing in the area.....

It's really too bad that the new owners haven't been able to maintain the quality of food that the previous owners did. Particularly when this is one of the few places in the area where you can have a meal and an alcoholic drink. The prices are fine dining prices but the food is just ok. A Bloody Caesar will run you almost $10. The female owner is unfriendly. We used to go to the Hideaway at least once a week. Sadly the Hideaway is now off our list.

We have been coming to the Hideway each summer for the past 7 or 8 years because it was well worth the drive from Baptiste. We knew it was for sale and had changed hands. Our hope was that the funky vibe and great food would remain. Unfortunately not. It is now a run of the mill cottage place with typical selections, mediocre food and a mediocre wine list. We had the hummus and while it was tasty with warm pita, it wasn't great and actually was the highlight of the meal. The Caesar salad was verging on sweet but it plenty in size. The fish tacos had decent fried fish but overall with little flavour, with slaw and cheddar and unripe -read hard- avocado slices. The homemade meatloaf was tough and was more hamburger like than meatloaf like. The wine by the glass is limited to Jackson Triggs although the price by the bottle wasn't bad. Just nothing interesting on it. Service was fine and attentive. My husband and I both felt sad when we left. Definitely not worth the distance.

Went here at the end of last season and was really surprised at how fresh and great the food was, the only down side was it took the server awhile to come serve us cause she was taking to another server but other then that it was great! Will definitely be back next year!

Lunch at the Hideaway was awesome, The Coe Hill stacker burger is a force to be reckon with, Had a chat with the new owner very down to earth. Nice atmosphere, screened in porch or open patio or inside the cozy dining room. To top it all off toffee sticky pudding for dessert. A bit pricey for lunch but well worth it. A road trip to Coe Hill by car or snowmobile in the winter is recommended
