We just love the terrace! The service is attentive, friendly precise! Really inventive tasteful. Always rewarded! How many venues do I feel a need to speed up the courses and the way they prepare themselves gives themselves to order as you go on request. Fantastic! Parking: These guys are organized and treat the full court press on a two-lane lot. You are friendly and attentive

Fresh, good sushi. The staff is incredibly friendly, from buses like Eva to servers like Rick and Kanoe (sp. . Also to appreciate the outdoor terrace (parking, but make it beautiful). There are some vegan options, but it is better for Seagans because the kitchen can remove milk from most items that it would normally have like the spicy tuna on crispy rice, truffle albacore nig or crabs handroll. Worth the ride of Santa Monica! Vegetarian options: Rolls, Salad, Edamame. Kid kindness: Children are often with parents inside or outside. Parking: Restaurant has its own parking lot with Valet. There are also metered street parking spaces. Accessibility: Yes. Nutrition restrictions: Seagan and vegetarian options. You can change some items when you ask.

Great sushi! They offer gluten-free versions of most of their sushi, and the staff is on what is overcontaminated and what is not, so it is safe for celiac. I recommend the albacore belly, it has the melt in your mouth quality to it. Parking: Parking

I eat at this restaurant once or twice a week. It is fantastic. I dine out a ton and just love the amazing quality of the food and outstanding service here at Kiwami. I bring people here from all over the US and the world to the restaurant, and everyone one of them are blown away. The sushi is better or at least as good as Nobu without all the pretentiousness and drama. it is a winning combination that is amazing! I read some of the 1 star reviews for sport and it made me laugh. Get real people... this place is OUTSTANDING!

First, let me start of by saying that I feel for the guy that posted about being sort of led down the path of getting the more expensive sushi without really understanding what the costs involved would be. I had the exact same sushi boss at the bar (Mac) and he 's pretty smooth like that. The owners must love him because from the moment my friend and I sat down, he was sort of working in the specialty things that are not even on the menu (my quotes, not his). Well, if they are so good, why don 't you put them on the menu and then hand me that menu so I can see what the prices are? Because who wants to be the cheapskate that has to ask for the price on every piece before he orders it? It kinda takes away from the vibe and the flow. It 's kind of like when, in other restaurants, they tell you what the specials are but rarely give you the prices and you are always a little shocked when you get the bill even though you should have known that special also means special price . For example... the cost here at Kiwami of a normal sushi order of albacore belly (two pieces in the order) is 6.50. But by the time the chef got done making it special (hit it with a blow torch for two seconds, add some garlic chips or smokey salt or whatever), it was 15. I mean, that 's not egregious given where you are... this ain 't some AYCE place... but just be aware. But getting back to this particular lunch, I have to say I would have felt like I was disappointing the sushi chef if, despite the suggestions, all I ordered was the regular stuff off the menu... but that 's on me, right? So, yeah, it 's a little weird being in this semi-omakase situation.Because the other side of that coin is going to a sushi bar that doesn 't know how to do ANYTHING creative... the fish might be reasonably-priced but boring. So that whole angle aside... place was great, the special sushi was, in fact, really good. The service was awesome from everyone. Our chef (Mac) really put out some interesting combinations... I may not remember exactly but things like slightly seared salmon belly with a bit of guacamole and yuzu . I may be mixing up my pieces but you get the idea. So I may be busting his chops about about being a little too smooth with the nudge-nudge-wink-wink, I 'll make you something special ... but I would be totally happy sitting in front of him next time. It 's like ya know he 's a bit of a sushi salesman but also really charming. And the fact is, my friend said it was the best sushi he 'd every had and I really like how the chef explained everything he was doing... it 's like the sushi came with a bit of a show. He is a big plus for the place... but even without Mac the place is just what it should be for a sushi bar on sushi row in Studio City... classy vibe, good sushi.

Came here through recommendation of a friend and enjoyed our night. Great service and great quality fish. We upgraded the yellowtail jalapeño and albacore crispy rice dishes to get belly for both and super worth it! The super toro was like butter, just melted in your mouth. Albacore belly and albacore belly crispy rice were our favorites as well. Sooo good! Spicy tuna crispy rice was also ok but I've had better. Was not impressed with the blue fin tuna and yellowtail jalapeño as much as it tasted a little fishy! Also did not like the fried ice cream as it was more bread like then tempura. Overall it was a good new place to try out with not much of a wait for a Friday night.

Quality has fallen off dramatically. Not as fresh, doesn't have that katsuya flavor and touch anymore. Too bad. Loved this place.

TLDR:It comes to communication and the wrong order and leave us in a bind, as the store postponed the pick-up time, leave us without options. Full details: The order was well written in advance and as on the sheet; clearly says: No decor necessary; can be pure chocolate. Well, why write this negative review; it comes to communication. When the staff arrived this morning, they did not try to contact us that the order was wrong. We called to confirm our collection and they asked us if we could come 2 hours later to pick up; but they did not inform us why or give any hints. When we came 2 hours later, nothing else was mentioned to us to hand over the box; the as you can see is very colorful and extremely decorated. As nothing was mentioned by the staff... we had to ask; why the order was decorated differently than ordered; and why it was never mentioned this morning on the phone, or if you are aware of the items when the order is clearly explained. The excuses given were not reasonable (not reading instructions). This is not a valid excuse with an order placed in advance. And it's not reasonable never to bring it up when we called or when we picked it up personally. We received a refund; the 1 star rating is for bad communication; leave us in a bind by returning the order window without other options from them. No excuse; except “so we want to confirm that you reject this order”. Note to future orders. Confirm what you want; call them and confirm with them orally the order was made right. And maybe three times confirm that. Wouldn't want others to delay this store because of their bad communication.
