Melanie and the team of OTR are the absolutely best. Melanie has a real gift for event planning and execution, her talent radiates through in the details she can think and plan. Last minute, when we added a hot pretzel station for the end of the night, she thought that the staff had brought to Go containers for every guest. She did the same for cupcakes we had for dessert without asking us (honestly I would never have thought to even ask this)! When it was cool during dinner, before the dance began, the team brought out heaters for the guests when the shuttle bus would not drive up the hill to pick up everyone, they coordinated several golf cars to drive the guests down to the bus (where I was in a panic). The staff has arranged our table decoration fantastic, they were so attentive to me and my husband all day. We had drinks waiting for us after we had climbed the gang when the ceremony ended. We had brought a dish of appetizers right to us during the cocktail hour. They received requests from family members and bridal party members who were not planned, and they were so gracious about it when they simply said no. I would recommend to anyone who wants a midsize wedding check OTR! The value for the cost is excellent and Melanie is really a magician. I cannot recommend OTR enough!

We got married to OTR on Fox Hopyard on 9/10/22. It was an absolutely perfect day from beginning to end! Melanie was so helpful and very easy to reach during planning. It is organized, knowledgeable and super detailed! We had our rehearsal dinner on Thursday before the wedding, and she could coordinate with our perpetrator and wedding party to ensure a smooth run for our sample. On the wedding day Melanie and her staff were very attentive and available all day and night (from preparation in the bridal suite to packing all the decor at the end of the night) to make sure everything went smoothly. The venue for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception was perfect, and all the decorations were beautifully decorated. Every detail has been taken into account! The food and drinks were so delicious for the tasting dinner and on our wedding day! We had so many compliments from our guests regarding food and the venue itself – they loved the picturesque outdoor space and the charm of the place. We could not have asked for a perfect day and are grateful for the great experience with On The Rocks on Fox Hopyard.
My husband and I had our wedding at Fox Hopyard in June and it was amazing. Melanie goes beyond and beyond and she really did a wedding nowhere near as stressful as I expected. It is not only responsive and extremely helpful, but also so professional. The day would not have been so smooth and effortless without them. The food was amazing and the presentation was beautiful. Everyone always said how nice everything was set up, and the ice-cream bar and French hairdressing station were definitely folk lovers. Our wedding was all we wanted and more! My son just had his wedding at On the Rocks. It was AMAZING! Melanie was so professional and spent the day making sure we loved everything. She was quick with emails and went above and beyond all of our requests. She gave great advice and helped make decisions. The food was fantastic, our guests are still talking about the clam chowder. Every menu item was delicious and beautifully served. We had a gorgeous weather day and i don't think there was anything to improve. The staff was awesome, so friendly and helpful. The venue looked magical. They transformed it into everything my son and his new wife wanted. Just beautiful. Best day ever
On The Rocks and Fox Hopyard Golf Club are, by far, my very special venues on the planet!! Where do I begin to describe this amazing part of my town, East Haddam! James and Melanie operate an outstanding restaurant which my family dined at every week. We were thrilled when James returned as the Executive Chef as he was greatly missed, He puts his heart and soul into every dish and his menus are ever changing and varied, depending on the season and what?s available locally. And, Melanie is by far the most amazing event planner I?ve ever worked with. Our family has had many, many parties at On The Rocks and we?ve never been disappointed. From our holiday parties, to baby showers, to birthday parties to our most recent memorial golf tournament, the club and restaurant were flawless! With close to a hundred golfers, the course was in fantastic shape and the staff at the pro-shop were so organized and prepared for our special tournament. We love this golf course and this restaurant and encourage everyone to come and see for yourselves the wonders of Fox Hopyard. The restaurant staff are like family. It?s our #1 spot and will continue to be for years to come.??
Weddings at On the Rocks are as fun as they are unique. If you're looking for something that isn't typical, this is the place. Their cuisine is both flavorful and portioned perfectly. You'll never go away hungry. The pavillion is a great place for a reception because you're out of the elements and a slight breeze is almost always present to keep your guests comfortable. There's more than ample room for a dance floor for your guests to enjoy. Melanie is a joy to work with and will ensure that every part of your wedding is taken care of efficiently. All in all, a great place to get married!
The Safari Club of Golf played here on September 4. It was our inaugural trip to this fantastic layout with well over one-hundred of our members in attendance. Unfortunately, the greens had been recently punched, but we knew that going into it, and anyone with a modicum of common golf sense knows these annual maintenance issues are paramount in keeping the golf courses pristine. So no big deal there as the layout and facilities are truly SPECTACULAR. The WOW factor was in play ALL DAY and we already have members asking if we plan on adding Fox Hopyard to our annual schdule in the future. I guess that sums up the Safari Club's experience pretty well.
