Ridge Tap House

We came for lunch and chose the buffet after looking through the menu. It was comprised of very good, small batch items. Three green salads four other salads and six hot items plus roast pork on a carvery. All items are small batch hand made quality items. Not cheap food either. Tilapia steak and chili and the roast pork. Foods all about 15$ a plate. Buffet 16$ wife comments "it's all stuff if cook at home."

Had the dinner buffet....I should have ordered off the menu. I did not like it. Food was old and overlooked.

A few nights back I was on a business trip and decided to try the pub special at the Ridge Tap House - filet mignon. I would have been okay with a typical pub steak, I should have raised my expectations as the chef prepared a perfect textbook medium-rare filet, served with white asparagus and mashed potatoes, that pretty well blows the doors in on specialty steak houses in Calgary, Houston or San Francisco. I think Pappas Brothers or Caesars would be proud to have served the steak I had. The next night I went back for the ribeye, which faced over 25 years of comparison with Caesar's famous plate. Same chef nailed it again. Once lucky, twice a trend! Simple scrumptious steak in Slave Lake - I will return. Excellent service both nights and excellent steak.

The Canada Day tasting menu was outstanding! The meal had thirteen courses with one based on ingredients from each province and territory.

I've been there a couple times, and have been disappointed. The food isn't that great, it sounds fancier on the menu than it actually is.

We came during the season of Christmas parties and were so happy with our service.

Nice to have a new place in town, with a new menu and great beverage list. Some really unusual and tasty appetizers. Service is improving, ask the owner for recommendations.
