We had researched the Liscombe river hike and this was the 'parking lot'! This is a government-run lodge with a great reception area that sells socks, which was great news after a VERY rugged 10k hike along boggy river banks. We noticed that there was a restaurant and decided to give it a try. It's 4pm on a grey Sunday and we were the only people there. We found a perfect seat in the snug bar area that looked out over the river. The manager was a really nice man with a common interest in craft beer. The great Sober Island was there but so too were Propeller and another from Halifax. We had delicious fresh food - fish & chips and a lobster sandwich and soup. All in all it made our day complete.

This is a good place to get a great meal. I had the fish and it was wonderful. Great atmosphere and I would go back.
The food was good if not a little pricey but there isn't anything else in the area especially in September. They do a good breakfast which was included in our stay
I was here for Canadian Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday and Sunday and the buffet was wonderful. The other meals during the day for the rest of the week have been great. The portions are large from appetizers to main courses, but the lighter fare is a good size also. It seems to be a place where people on the Eastern Shore come because I have met some who have driven almost 45 minutes for dinner. I think the chef should be commended.
When told that we were headed for Halifax on Highway 7, a nice fellow we met at a Tim Hortons in Antigonish urged us to stop for lunch at the Liscombe Lodge’s Riverside Dining Room. He certainly knew what he was talking about. The Riverside Dining Room was delightful. CJ and I were ushered to a window table with a nice view of the Liscomb River. Our server Martha took good care of us. Our club sandwiches were delivered in due time and eaten with gusto. The price was reasonable, and we went away happy. We’ll stop here again if we get the chance.
Riverside dining room far outperformed our expectations in every way. Menu was extensive, food excellent, staff wonderful! A Hidden Gem!
The chef is amazing! His bend of flavors and presentations are fantastic. We stayed two days and recommend the following: Baked brie app.; Planked salmon; lobster risotto; Cornish hen and swordfish with scallops.
A pretty extensive menu all at reasonable prices. The service was good and very friendly. Book early to get the meal time you want.
