Old school, but an absolute pleasure. I would put The Bistro at Ocean House in the top 3 fine restaurants of Rhode Island. Get the scallops!

We went for lunch today. I 'd have gone for the 5 stars, except that one of the appetizers was very blah. The weather was beautiful and we had the following: Complimentary foccacia and butter and a lovely little watermelon relish to start. A bowl of clam chowder which was delicious. Clam spring rolls, which were sort of mushy inside and to me, a load of unnecessary calories and fat, since they were fried. We should have passed on those. I couldn 't help thinking 'I hope these clams are cooked through '. A Thai Chicken Salad, which was amply portioned and delicious. A Cold Lobster Salad Roll that was good sized, but would have benefitted from some celery mixed in and some lettuce in the sandwich. It came with fries that were no more exciting than you 'd find in a fast food restaurant. Iced coffee and iced tea (which was unfortunately, to my surprise, peach flavored something I don 't particularly like). The wait staff was wonderful and attentive, except for not getting a spoon with the chowder. The bill came to around 94.00 with tax, since we ordered no alcohol. We asked for a seat by the window but were given one on the inside wall, which was fine, since the ocean view was positively spectacular anyway. We 'd recommend this place, but if you are planning on drinking alcoholic beverages, bring lots more money as wines by the glass start at about $12 and soar from there.

Excellent service!! Amazing staff. Efficient kitchen crew. Super clean place, very friendly and great atmosphere. All staff dressed to the 9’s and very happy to be working here. Valets were amazing also. Thanks so much again for the amazing time.

The jazz brunch was out of this world and we'll worth the money. Our server, Tashana, went above and beyond to make sure we were happy! Thank you! We will definitely be going back...and asking for the same server!Food: 5/5

My second time at Ocean house.I had a delightful experience at this location, which is absolutely ideal for summer outings. The Sunday course brunch is a noteworthy highlight, and while the food was satisfactory, the shrimp cocktail truly stole the show. The ocean view adds to the overall atmosphere, and the outdoor cocktail bar is simply fantastic. The garden area was another beautiful touch. There was a minor hiccup with the to-go dessert packaging; the box provided was too large to fit into the bag properly. As a result, the desserts were squished together, making it difficult to distinguish one from another. Despite this small issue, I am eager to return and would highly recommend the experience.Kid-friendliness: Kids menuParking: $5 valet

Sam, the sommelier, was fantastic and recommended an excellent bottle of wine slightly above our stated price range. We were seated on time at our table. Water was poured. The appetizers arrived before the bread course. The torchon was delicious, the salad mediocre. It needed salt and pepper and the lettuce was wilted from the dressing (which lacked flavor). The steak frites were very good, especially the salty fries. The scallops and risotto was not memorable and needed seasoning. Four scallops for $45? Our waters were not refilled until we asked. The server came by infrequently and did not engage with us beyond basic needs. Overall a mediocre food/service experience. The atmosphere of the room is beautiful.
