Kuleana Rum Shack

The rum is great and there is a rum tasting for $12. Straight rum is a little much for me and I couldn't finish a full glass. I prefer it mixed in a cocktail. Anyway, the food is good. It is very commercial and I felt like it was a get ‘em in and get ‘em out of type of space. I think the entire experience of rum tasting to dinner was an hour. I am personally on vacation and want to relax and enjoy my evenings. I had the duck as a duck and it was really good. It comes with potatoes and carrots. There is no children's menu that is surprising with the number of children here. I'd come back for the rum.

We had a really good experience last time we were at Kona, so we were excited to come back. While we had a good experience, it was not as good as last time. The duck was overcooked a touch, but still a large dish of food. The pig stall was boiled and very dry. The coffee rub has not added enough taste. The mushroom Risotto, which accompanied it was amazing. I could have eaten a whole bowl with the Risotto. Your cocktails are excellent (and dangerous! . If you are looking for unique drinks.

Honestly, an incredible dinner experience! They take their rum seriously, and it is not disappointed. You have an extensive cocktail menu with many options and good food to go with it. I recommend this place and will come back!

Best restaurant on the big island hands down. We had wings and tomato mozzarella (special) as an app chicken was juicy, crispy on the outside and sauce was amazing.. tomato mozzarella was incredible. I had the duck which was delicious my husband had the ahi tuna special which was hands down the best I’ve ever had. Was cooked perfectly and sauce was an amazing fusion of flavors. I need the recipe for those sauces please !! So good. Every cocktail we had was well balanced and unique. We then had a rum tasting and dessert. Our waitress Joy was a wealth of knowledge and so helpful when pairing our food and cocktails. She is an asset to this company and I would highly recommend this restaurant in part due to the food but also due to the amazing service. Thank you Joy for making our last night on big island a memorable one. You’re awesome !

Had amazing cocktails and really good food! We only got appetizers and a couple of drinks but everything was fresh and tasty. The fired chicken was the highlight, super crispy with tasty sauce!

Nice and different place for the area. Simple but interesting menu. Young, friendly staff. I had the flight of rums and the burger with wedge fries. Not bad. I did love the presentation and quick history of the flights. Excellent presentation. I'm so sorry that I forgot her name. Great job!

Food was very good! They ran out of all of the beers on tap though. Quick service and very busy! Great atmosphere at night
