The sushi here is great but not cheap. Sushi in Alberta is never cheap. It's the only Sushi restaurant around for at least an hour in every direction. Bento boxes are filling and the rolls are huge. Food comes out quick and the staff is easy going. Great for take out too if you are in a hurry.

We had spring rolls and 3 types of sushi. (Spicy tuna, spicy salmon and dynamite) Everything was really good and the presentation was better than last time we ate here.
My family and I thought we'd give Sushi Monster a try as we love sushi. It did not disappoint. The food was delicious, and the way it was plated was a work of art. The prices were reasonable as well. We will definately be going back!

One would think in small town rural Alberta one would never get good sushi. Surprise, this small cosy nook of a restaurant in the hotel has amazing sushi! The waitress has seen us enough to know my son by name. I think it is because he always want the fish roe roll! Weekends supper is fullhouse so either get there early or make a reservation. I am not the sushi lover that my husband and son are so I always enjoy the teriyaki bento boxes that are available.
Sushi Monster opened this fall in the Springs Motor Inn in Wainwright. I'm personally not a fan of sushi, but friends had told us that there were other things on the menu. So we decided to give it a try, and were pleasantly surprised. We had the Salmon Teriyaki and the Beef Teriyaki and it was very good. It came with Miso soup and generous portions of everything. Love that they served on piping hot cast iron plates that kept everything warm for a long time. Appetizers were good also. Bento Boxes at the next table looked amazing also. Atmosphere -- well -- it's an old pub with run-down tables and chairs and country music on the jukebox. What can I say? Needs a restaurant make-over for sure.
The sushi monster is located within the Springs Motor Inn. I think this is the only Japanese Restaurant in Wainwright. They have an extensive menu of Korean/Japanese cuisine. I ordered fried tofu and shrimp tempora. In other Japanese restaurants, the tofu will only have 4 little pieces. This place they serve up 8 large pieces. Same surprise with the shrimp tempora. 8 pieces of large shrimps! I was stuffed! And the cost was very reasonable.
This restaurant was really nice! Went here because they had a great menu! They gave us a tasty sampler and I ordered the shrimp, duck, and a white chocolate
